Alimony
While working in family law, I have found many who believe that alimony is only awarded when one party has done something wrong (ie husband had an affair with the secretary). However, it really comes down to how the parties were living during the marriage.
The court will look at whether or not only one party was working, if one spouse put the other through school, household contributions, or really anything the court deems important.
If one spouse is entitled to alimony, say the wife never worked and stayed at home while the husband worked every day, if the wife then cheated on the husband during the marriage, she would lose her entitlement to alimony.
This is where fault comes in, if one part did something wrong, then their entitlement goes away.
